I always approach teaching on an individual basis. I find out what the student loves about music, and what made him or her want to learn in the first place. We set realistic goals for pace and have fun. I often mix traditional work with fun work. I believe private lessons are a great way for some students just to get "a little more time playing their instrument", but under some great guidance! Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop proper, advanced drumming technique, appreciating the complex mathematical pattern filled art form that is drumming. Advanced Technical Drumming is my strongest passion, and I love passing my skills to others. My favorite way of teaching is a dual-player setup, on a simple practice pad. This setup allows both the student and the teacher to practice in essentially any environment, and basic drum rudiments are ESSENTIAL to learn before transferring to any drum set, snare drum, etc. Read More

For beginning students or children, I will start teaching the importance of note value on printed music. Whether it's drums, piano, guitar, or any orchestral instrument, they all share a common thread in melody and rhythm. Once the student has a firm grasp on note value and melody, they will begin to learn simple songs that gradually increase in difficulty. By the time they reach an intermediate level of knowledge, they will bring their own favorite songs to learn. Read More
