I have played drums for 16 years and I have played guitar and bass for around 10 years. I have never formally taught instruments for money. I have experience teaching drums to friends and it was a great experience. It is great to see someone start to absorb the information that you're giving them. Drums are about slowly increasing complexity and knowing when to introduce new concepts to the mix. What always seems to solidify knowledge and help rhythm when I have taught friends in the past is when I pick up a guitar and play along with the student as they play drums, once they've learned a part or a song. 2004-2007 marched world championships in WGI with Black Knights and Pulse Percussion 2006 Marched the Rose Parade as a tenor drummer. 2015 - Awarded a plaque from Los Angeles City Counsel for teaching Madison Middle School, becoming State Champs. 2016-2018 Taught Madison Middle School drumline and got them to be 4-peat State Champs. I am a professional drummer originally from the San Francisco East Bay area. I started percussion instruction in elementary school at age 9, proceeding through high schools playing in the concert, symphonic, jazz, and marching bands. At 19 I joined the US Army, where I honorably served my enlistment, and continued to play professional gigs around central Texas. In 2003 I moved to Los Angeles to study at the M.I. I always try to make my classes fun and engaging. I manage a very particular teaching method based on how I have learned from my mentors. On the first class I ask what the student's interest is and what would make him/her happy to learn, how the student imagines playing and what styles of music are the favorites ones.
