Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Ong was a professional tap dancer and drummer during the "Big Band Era". William's passion for music began at a young age, and he began studying with his father at just five years old, who taught him the lessons he learned from Charles "Charley" Wilcoxon. He then went on to study with Phil Shipley, the Principal percussionist with the Columbus Orchestra, among others. Later, he attended Fort Hayes Arts Academy, where he gained a solid foundation in music history, theory, business, and recording under the tutelage of Jim Maneri and Jeff McCargish. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically like to start with rudiments and technique studies. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will introduce the Moeller method. Later will move to the drumset and apply all 3 methods and became to develop what I like to call he groove and bass excises and different warm ups. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My first conversation with students is what they would like to learn. This doesnt have to be specifically about one instrument, but what they would like to become as a musician. What music do the students enjoy? What inspires them? Who are their musical influences? I have taught students to have developmental issues. I have taught gifted students. Depending on the instrument I am instructing on I will take each student on their own path. I typically spend some time getting to know the student, understand their desires and passions for music, and their own personal style. When I understand that I can gauge where the lessons should go. With these programs, I have managed inventory, concert band ensemble placements, programming for solo ensemble events, and coordinated with teams of instructional staff. In these positions, I also taught the middle school percussion sections. I have an excellent record as a student, holding both a Master of Arts in Percussion Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Miami University, receiving several honors and awards for academic excellence.
