I began teaching drums and percussion around my senior year of high school (1999). For guitar/bass guitar, I began teaching sometime in 2009. I feel very fortunate regarding my teaching experiences. In the beginning and still today, I tend to spark a musical interest in people through performance -- and just as often -- conversation. Those I've had the fortune to work with have varied widely in age and experience. The majority of my experience has been with young adults, teens, and pre-teens. Read More

This means that starting out might be a bit slow, but the learning curve for future lessons is shortened and students eventually end up further ahead than if they skipped around. Read More

The student must be motivated to practice. I'm just a guide making sure the student is on a path to success. It doesn't have to be MY path to success. It just has to be a path that demonstrates great playing. If you're more disciplined about your playing than I am, you will enjoy your lessons. But if you neglect your instrument and come to lessons unprepared, this will not be worth your time and money. Read More
