Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For young and beginning students, I focus intently on proper technique (holding of sticks, timing, 4-way coordination, etc.) to ensure a proper foundation for success. For older and experienced students, I look to work on a wide range of styles to help the student understand the nuances of performance techniques and promote an understanding of how interconnected various performance styles are. "Modern Reading Text in 4/4 time" and "Modern Reading text in odd-time" - They are different books than most use, and I use them especially for my jazz students but I have fount them to be invaluable. Carlos studied Percussion at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of Mexico, Cultural Institute of Panamá, Republic of Panamá. as well with world known percussionist like Alex Acuña, Endel Dueño, Jesús Alfonso Miró (Musical Director of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas), Lamim Thiam, and more.With his explosive soloing and inventive conga patterns, Carlos is widely acclaimed as a grate percussionist. He is committed to the development of the conga drum, breaking down traditional percussion barriers to perform traditional latin rhythms, jazz, jungle, funk and hip-hop whilst retaining his distinctly latin roots.As a live and session performer, he played with various international artists including Willie Colón, Eugenia León, Oswaldo Ayala, Elizabeth Mesa (Judge of Latin American Idol), Paquito D'Rivera (multiple Grammy Award-winner), Enrique Nery, and more.His musical journey is a personal quest to explore and create new sounds and rhythmic fusions. I have taught drum instruction and Jazz ensemble at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for 20 years. In addition I developed and implemented elementary music programs for K-5 thru 4th grade for schools in the NY vicinity.
