I emphasize the importance of developing good technique and a fundamental understanding of the basic components of music: major and minor scales, arpeggios, chords, modes and chord progressions. I believe that technical facility makes it easier to accomplish musical goals while developing musicianship. I like to tailor my lessons to each student using music that the student brings to me to create lessons and exercises. I encourage my students to set short as well as long term goals so that they can have a timetable of tangible results as motivators to get to the next level. I always take into consideration the amount of time that we have together (number of lessons per month) in order to reach these goals so I am able to keep everything on track. Zac J. is a percussion performer, teacher, and arranger. Zac has received a bachelors degree in music education and a masters degree in music performance from Miami University with a focus in percussion. Zac has performed and studied with and learned from several artists such as Dr. William Albin, Pat Schleker, Dr. Christopher Tanner, and Michael LaMattina.
