I have been tutoring musicians since high school, on multiple instruments in multiple genres. I have not taken on many students until recently as I was pursuing other career paths. For 2 years I helped restart a high school regimental bagpipe band in Los Angeles. By teaching the student to teach themselves, I try and allow them to explore music and their own creativity as independently as possible. I emphasize the need to express oneself, as well as the need for introspection. The practice of music is a microcosm of life, and I try and instill that sense in each student. I approach teaching by teaching solid tecnique while simutaniously learning things that the student wants to leran. I believe in developing the ear and learning something about music theory. I am very passionate about music. I love to teach and pass along what i know so that others can continue to create music for profit and personal enjoyment. I am a very low pressure teacher. If you are not enjoying your time then no one is benefiting from the lessons. I use a marker board, books, a metronome, paper and pencils etc to tech lessons. I do not send home "homework" but i will assign practice exercises for students to do between classes and will check on the progress and results when we meet for our next lesson. Read More
