I like using all kinds of inspirational material such as listening to reference tracks of music that the student is interested in; to provide a more personalized experience in discovering what their sound is. This also includes doing art projects(such as painting and drawing) as I believe visuals are just as important to inspiring creativity as sound is. If the student does not know what they would like to do for the first part of the lesson I typically set multiple instruments around my studio and connect them to amps and start improving or playing something and have the student join in on the jam and then move onto having them take our over and then we go from there. I have been teaching since I was 18. I strongly encourage at least 10-30 minutes a day of practice. I believe in experiencing the JOY in music, but it does require discipline and work. I can also help with compositional ideas, as I took 2 years of composition as my secondary applied area of study for my bachelor's degree. Improvisation is another aspect I can help in as I was pianist for the ASU Jazz Band for 3 semesters. Read More

My teaching style is very hands-on and has a there is no wrong answer kind of mood. I strive to make every student feel like they are leading themselves to the musical future they dream of. I find learning music that you like listen to helps students feel productive. I always make a point to ask about music taste so that I can find songs that are good practice for whatever the student and I may be covering. Read More

My methods of teaching change with each student. All individuals learn differently. I start by seeing where each individual is and how they react to the material. Im always wanting my students to be a well rounded individual in music and in life. Read More
