The student must be motivated to practice. I'm just a guide making sure the student is on a path to success. It doesn't have to be MY path to success. It just has to be a path that demonstrates great playing. If you're more disciplined about your playing than I am, you will enjoy your lessons. In college I began teaching drumlines over the summer for various high school programs. During that time is when I really began to fall in love with the teaching process and watching my students improve and grow as musicians. Drums/Percussion: This being my main area of expertise, I can get you to where you want to be. My approach depends on your goals. For the drum set, my preferred approach is a bit like Mr. Miyagi in Karate Kid. We will begin away from the drum set doing isolated hand/foot exercises (will need a practice pad), analyzing together music the student is interested in, and hammering home the importance of a relaxed body and proper posture.
