I have been teaching since I was in Highschool, specifically tutoring younger kids while I was a senior. From there, I helped with sectionals while I was at Baldwin Wallace University. When I started at the University of Akron, I accepted a full Clarinet assistant ship, teaching private lessons to Undergraduate Clarinetists and coaching chamber music. Due to the fact that I teach students with drastically different age and ability levels, lessons are catered to each individual student's needs. In general, I try to structure the lesson in such a way that it can serve as a blueprint for at-home practice. We will usually start with some kind of warm-up exercise, move to technical/flexibility development, followed by repertoire and etudes. I have a very energetic and adaptable teaching style. Having worked with students from 3 years old to in their 30's, I can mold lessons to fit any type of attention span. I have also worked with students with special education needs and physical issues, so I can also work with parents to find ways for any student, regardless of their situation, to enjoy a life of music. William is a retired college professor who taught woodwinds at the college level for over 25 years. He is an accomplished recitalist on both clarinet and saxophone. He earned the Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the University of Akron and the Ph.D. in musicology from Kent State University.
