What began as a few saxophone students has grown, making private lessons an integral part of my work and affording me the chance to share my love of music on several other instruments including clarinet, flute, and piano. I create custom lesson plans, goals, and objectives based on the individual student's needs and interests.  Strong fundamentals are essential to readily achieve musical success, therefore, I begin with the essentials of posture, breathing, sticking/articulation, and best practice habits.  If a student already has a method book or repertoire with which he or she is learning, I am happy to continue with current music, or I have many method books and resources to recommend. For the Intermediate level student (2-4 yrs of playing experience) the same lesson template as the beginning student is used with more advanced music / method books (Rose Etudes), selected solos / ensembles and appropriate scale studies. For the advanced student (4-6 years of experience), I like to introduce more advanced clarinet fundamentals / techniques, appropriate rhythmic studies, an advanced solo or ensemble selection for collegiate consideration, Rose or similar etudes and technical scale studies.
