Learning a musical instrument should always be a very rewarding and satisfying experience. Therefore, I have a large variety of techniques in my musical bag of tricks to challenge all types of learners. During my 10 years as a full time band director, I have developed many musical "games", often based on Suzuki methods, to make learning fundamentals, scales, and repertoire much more enjoyable. These include practice rewards, Band Olympics, ninja karate belts, and Harry Potter themed games. Read More

Proper preparation (regular practice) is encouraged, as well as student input. What a student WANTS to learn is just as important as what a student NEEDS to learn. Read More

This provides a good foundation for moving on to duets and solo pieces, which are more enjoyable to play. Once the student has finished the first Essential Elements book, I like to move on to the Rubank books. Read More
