My teaching experience dates back to my pre-college/ post high school days where I was a volunteer director of a community ensemble in Jamaica. This opportunity opened doors for me to teach music theory and private saxophone and flute lessons in a community based project that was geared towards using music for social development and change in the inner city youth. I have found students truly succeed by having a mixture of classical, spiritual, cultural, and popular music in their repertoire, and I have found that allowing students to know their strengths and weaknesses which are essential to know for a speedy developement of musicianship and musicality.
