I am a strings teacher, teaching privately for 10 years and in public schools for 7. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, with a concentration in violin. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Orchestral Conducting at Messiah College. Strings students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I teach students strong foundational techniques in order to develop their abilities. My true passion for music education began when I moved to Houston for graduate school. During my time there, I quickly had grown my studio to upwards of 15 students at local music schools, and would also lead sectionals for group cello lessons at middleschools and highschools nearby. I also work with and teach for a non-profit organization called Musicians for the World, which aims to bring quality virtual music education to vulnerable communities around the world; through this non-profit, I have some students from Kenya, Haiti, Peru, Belize, and Mexico! I am a violinist and string teacher originally from Augusta, Georgia. I've lived in Atlanta, Ga and Chattanooga, TN, and currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pa. As far back as I can remember, music has always been a huge part of my life, starting with my first exposure to music through records and the radio. I follow my teacher's teaching because I have seen that it has worked on so many other people that have become amazing performers, and since my teacher is from the old German school, he is very strict in how technique should be learned. For beginners I start with Friedrich Dotzauer "113 Cello Etudes" to form foundation and technique, After a good foundation, the intermediate level is with Friedrich Dotzauer Exercises for the cello Book 1 and book 2, at this point some repertoire will be introduced to the student as well as the style of repertoire piece that will be studied and practiced, the student will pick repertoire so it can be fun for both parties.
