For beginning cello students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki method elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I have experience teaching in a group setting as well as in an one-to-one setting. My teaching style is engaging empathic and emphasis on repetition and finding strong points in students to keep them engaged while working on weaknesses. I encourage all students to work on memorizing repertoire, keeping correct posture, practicing a few times a week and performing for friends and family during the learning process. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music!
