My students have gotten in to region, all-state, college music programs, prestigious summer festivals, and placed in national competitions. I've taught children with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. I Started with music 17 years now . I began age 10 with cello. 2 years later started the guitar. Picked up along the way electric bass, upright bass, ukulele , mandolin , banjo, basic piano and learning accordion. All middle and high school was in the orchestra. Generally, we start with a quick assessment of where you are in the instrument, what pieces you can play and want to and/or need to get to play someday, I use a regimen of Cello " workouts" that will focus on improving overall and focus on areas we need to work the most on, each student is different and responds differently to different methods, though there are several etude books I use ( like Feullard's 60 daily exercises or poppers Highschool of cello, as well as some of Dotsauers 113 Studies ) which would also depend on our starting point.
