Generally, we start with a quick assessment of where you are in the instrument, what pieces you can play and want to and/or need to get to play someday, I use a regimen of Cello " workouts" that will focus on improving overall and focus on areas we need to work the most on, each student is different and responds differently to different methods, though there are several etude books I use ( like Feullard's 60 daily exercises or poppers Highschool of cello, as well as some of Dotsauers 113 Studies ) which would also depend on our starting point. I want my students to have fun, but to also engage in very structured learning. All students must find time to practice during the week, but the parents must be a huge part of helping their child learn this new instrument. We will set weekly, realistic goals for each lesson. During the lesson, we will review the last concept that was learned, go over the lesson for the day and then create a lesson for the following week and be sure that each lesson is explained and understood. My music education experience includes serving as an elementary-middle school orchestra teacher, and being judge at the school district's concerto competition. Read More

I will adjust my style to the needs of the student, if their interest is purely personal enjoyment up to college audition requirements. I encourage students of this age range to perform at recitals, as it builds their confidence level as performers and presenters. Performances also help individuals gain confidence to not only perform in public, but also present: lectures, speeches, and other public speaking opportunities. Read More

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
