To complement my studies on drums, I studied jazz theory with reknown bassist and educator Scott Mason and jazz arranging with former Buddy Rich trombonist, Tom Garling. After graduating in May 2011, I have had the oppoutunity to play in major Chicago venues like The Metro, Lincoln Hall, Congress Theater, Reggies, Rosa's and many others. As a performer I have worked in a variety of settings, including symphony orchestras, jazz bands, and popular music ensembles. I believe in teaching people to be true musicians and tap into their own creative spirits, not just to be technicians at the mercy of what's written for them. For Piano, I use several method books, including the Thompson Method, Shaum, Alfred, and Bastien. For Guitar I use Hal Leanard, Mel Bay, and several others. I also use interactive software of various kinds. And for Jazz, Blues and Rock improvisation, I use Band in a Box to provide backing tracks for the purpose of practicing improv over chord progressions. Band in a Box allows the student to simulate the experience of playing with a band in various styles and genres, with the possibility of change the chord progression and also changing the key and tempo. My passion for music comes from childhood, learning the first chords on the guitar with my father. From then on, I began to study classical guitar in conjunction with a repertoire of Brazilian and Latin music. Later I deepened my studies on the 7-string nylon guitar and also on the semi-acoustic guitar, especially in the language of jazz and blues.
