My methods are unique and effective. First I share with my students the history and culture of the instrument. Then I teach how the instrument works, explaining every detail. I use simple exercises that quickly ingrain a foundation for progression. Next I build confidence by playing along in collaboration, while teaching synchronization and tempo. Since then I have taught piano to a student for 2 summers while home from school. I also volunteered for the nonprofit Alabama Blues Project camp in Tuscaloosa, where I met a student eager to learn guitar and drums, and I taught weekly lessons to him for a summer on both instruments. My teaching experience started in 2009. Since then I have consistently taught students ranging from 3 years old to wise adults over 80 years. I generally teach in my home studio because I find students benefit much more than being at their home. I make exceptions for those with busy schedules (however I highly recommend having lessons outside your home). A singer/songwriter from New York, I graduated from Vassar College in 2020 with a degree in music, and moved to New Orleans to pursue a career in music education.
