The first thing to learn as a bass player is developing a good technique. The bass is a large instrument with big stings and can be tough to play. Many develop bad habits. Teaching proper technique can eliminate bad habits, and facilate proper playing. While teaching technique, learning note, the fingerboard, and music theory is the next step.
