I have been fortunate to study under some remarkable professors as well as musicians. There are three individuals in particular that I will never forget. They changed my life. Their determination, work ethic, pure genius and passion for what they do will always stick with me. They raised my bar as a musician and set the bar for my teaching. As a teacher I strive to leave the same imprint on others that they left on me. Read More

I use both classics and popular songs to teach reading, theory, ear-training, and improvisation. I teach all of my lessons differently- custom tailoring each one to the students (and parent's) wants, needs, and personal learning style. Been doing that for 7 years going on 8 and have never lost a single student to my methods. Read More

If they want funk, I will start with Funkadelic, explaining the role of rhythm first and foremost with some basic time-keeping exercises and gradually apply them to pentatonic scales. Read More

In my career as a teacher as well as in my personal life I have found that it is impossible to teach all people the same and expect the same results. Thus, my methods are highly tailored to the student's unique needs and desires. Additionally, I've found that certain teaching methods work better with certain instruments. One of the first questions I ever as of a student is what their goals are for these lessons so I might better adjust my lessons to suit. Read More
