The methods used in my trumpet studio focus solely on the fundamentals of playing trumpet. For all ages, there is a focus on building breath support, dexterity, and range. For the intermediate and advanced players, there is a focus on transpositions, sight-reading, dexterity, and learning standard trumpet repertoire. All of my lessons are tailored around the student and adhere to the New York State Standards for Music. Methods and other books I use include but are not limited to: Clarke, Gekker, Bai Lin, Schlossberg, Getchell, Concone, and the Amsden's 68 Duets. Read More

Once I am comfortable with a solid foundation of Trumpet fundamentals I will add solo trumpet literature into the lessons and assignments so that there is a balance between technical exercises and trumpet literature. From there I guide my lessons on how to properly practice between the lessons so that there is a steady progress throughout. I also invite the student, once proper technique is learned is not already, to suggest pieces of music that they are interested n which I will incorporate into the lessons. Read More

By being accessible and willing to work through any issues goes a long way. Read More

Keeping track of a student's hours of practice and their musical achievements is beneficial for me to determine what new material and concepts to work on, and also allows the student to stay organized and motivated.
