I am a drummer who loves sharing my love of music based in New York City. I have a Master Degree in Jazz Performance from Queens College, and have worked and played in a lot of different bands and ensembles, such as Jazz small ensembles, Jazz big band, award winning Indie Band, and Percussion chamber music. I have also participated in Musical and accompanied for dancers too. From my rich experiences of playing in different settings, I developed a diverse ability on the instrument but at the same time, keep my style and sound on the drums unique and authentic. And I would love to share all these experiences with people from who are interested in gaining more music knowledge to people who are trying to learn and improve on the rhythm and drums.
I have a long time teaching experience since 2012. I first started teaching private lessons in a music school while I was in College and I never stopped since then. I've also given workshops, taught in College Jazz Club and National Concert Hall & Theater Jazz Camp in Taiwan where I gave drum lessons, rhythm section workshop and conducted a jazz ensemble. My students aged from 6 years old kids to 68 years old adults. I welcome every single person who wants to know and learn more of this magical thing called music, and I always encourage my students is never too late!
My teaching focus on two aspects. One is the technique on the drums, such as stick control, rudiments practice, coordination practice, and groove practice....etc. The second one is introducing and listening to different Music styles in order to understand the beauty and the elelments of good Music, gain music vocabularies and increase musicality. I designed the listening list according to the student's taste and like of particular music genera too. I also designed different rhythm interactive exercises to help students understand the meaning and the feeling of rhythm and groove. It's fun!!
My teaching style is a balance between the discipline and the student's interest. In the process of knowing every individule student, I would find out what's their favorite things to play and what's their inspiration to learn within music or the drums and I would encourage them to do the practices, so in the end of the day, they would be able to play what they really like and have fun with it. So during our lessons, I would help them set up the goals, provide practice exercises, introducing music repretoire, sharing experiences, providing encouragements and over all just to guide them in the right direction, so that the lessons can be enjoyable but yet, they can really grow through this process and fulfill their own desire to be better on their instruments.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
