I’m a musician who cares deeply about passing on my passion and experience to my students. I have vast experience as a freelance saxophonist, performing in my native United Kingdom, across Europe and recently In the USA. In 2016 I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Saxophone and in 2018 I moved to NYC to study for my Master of Music in Jazz Arts at the City College of New York. I feel strongly about the importance of music education for everyone and am committed to helping my students achieve their goals.
I have 6 years of teaching experience dating back to my college days where I started teaching adults privately. Whilst completing my bachelor’s degree I was able to develop key skills as a performer and educator. Part of my studies included pedagogy classes which involved practical and theoretical assessments. Since graduating in 2016 I have taught the saxophone, clarinet, recorder, African drumming and keyboard to all ages from 4 to 60, both privately and in classroom situations. I cater to all ages and all abilities am always happy to take anyone on.
Generally speaking I create my own custom lesson plans and materials based on what my students respond to best. Visual, aural, or kinaesthetic ; different people respond to different methods. I have a vast array of teaching books and resources that I can draw from , and I often compile these into my own collection. For beginners I introduce fundamental exercises, as well as visual content to study fingerings/notes/rhythms. When suitable I then introduce appropriate repertoire. Equal emphasis is put on learning to play by reading music and listening to it.
My first aim with a new student is to establish what they want to achieve musically. Fun and enjoyment is the key to continued development and success in my eyes. It’s important to set goals and teach sustainable practice routines to help the student progress outside of lessons. I cater my style to what I feel the student will respond to best. For example, a total beginner or a casual learner would need a less demanding approach than a high school student wanting to audition for music schools. Ultimately I want the student to find joy in music.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
