School of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal
Hello future students! My name is Taylor and I am a lifelong lover of all things guitar and music. I have been playing the instrument for fifteen (15) years and have become proficient in many genres and styles, though my passion will always be blues, hard rock and metal. I was initially self taught and in later years took classes and lessons from notable touring musicians to broaden my theoretical and technical knowledge of the fretboard. Students looking for structured, technical but IMPACTFUL lessons will find great value in their time with me as we work to develop their own personal voice on the guitar.
I began giving lessons five (5) years ago off and on but am looking to develop a more structured roster of students as I now have a home studio and am able to accommodate more hours. My other line of professional work, Architecture, has developed a strong sense of order and structure to my method(s) without sacrificing creativity. In my eyes, many students get frustrated, plateau or give up all together due to teachers either being too stale or not attempting to understand the STUDENT'S personal goals in music. I strive to break this mold and work hard to develop unique lesson curriculum and methods for all of my individual students.
While the academic side of things changing depending on student experience is a no brainer, the common denominator in all of my lessons is UNDERSTANDING. WHAT does the student want to play? WHY does the student want to play it? HOW are we going to get the student to reach his/her goals. Theory books are a great place to start but too often newcomers to music get tired and burnt out on things like scales, chord charts and general theory from stale instructors that dont realize they are delivering somewhat complicated information to people that JUST WANT TO PLAY. I find listening to music with students, analyzing the various figures and pieces and then explaining its theoretical and technical application to the fretboard is a much more dynamic and fun approach to getting over the initial speedbumps. And of course, this same practice applies all the way to advanced players.
Everyone has a unique voice inside of them that is ready to sing. I want to pull this out of students and make things fun as we go down the journey of music together, no matter what their experience level. I am a great listener, a fantastic communicator and a fun, expressive teacher that will make any kind of lesson a blast for students of all ages. Whether we are learning our first chords or attacking one of the more challenging solo sections in rock history the mantra stays the same: Every note has meaning, Every note has importance and Every PLAYER has a voice from which to express the notes in their own unique way.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
