I am a dedicated and passionate instructor who wants to help students, regardless of background and opportunity. I want to share my music passion with the world. In 2019, I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX with a Bachelor of Music degree with a double major in Instrumental Music Education and Spanish. I have gotten the chance to perform at the International Tuba Euphonium Festival at Emory University in Atlanta, GA back in summer 2017 to become a better tuba player and overall brass player. I started teaching music classes in 1992. As a public school music teacher, I have taught students in grades 1-12. I taught concert band, jazz band, marching band, string orchestra, full orchestra, and general music. I have conducted a women's chorale and taught college as well. For 7 years, I trained music education students and supervised their teaching experiences. I traveled to California for college, where I received a Bachelor of Music Composition degree from Biola University. While in college, I continued engraving, was hired to compose music for musical plays, taught piano privately, and directed the music at my church. My goal with my students is always to see them enjoy themselves while growing as musicians. I want to know what inspires my students and what they strive for as well, though it's always okay if they can't answer that immediately. Learning an instrument is a journey. I believe that the most important part of my teaching style is positive reinforcement. The most successful teachers and mentors that I know or have studied with readily acknowledge a student's strengths and are not afraid of letting them know when they are proud of their students.
