I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project. Our mission was to put music programs in schools that couldn't afford them on their own, particularly in urban areas around Walnut Hills. Read More

The most important thing that I can teach a student is good habits. One of my first teachers always said "I'm not here to teach you to play the trombone, I'm here to teach you how to practice the trombone." That has esentially been my teaching philosophy since then. From there I couple learning popular tunes the student picks with developing method books to maintain a strong fundamental of playing. Read More

Music teaches discipline, work ethic, focus, problem solving, compassion, history, you name it. I have the skills and know how to teach an instrument and music, but I believe in the philosophy that music can teach us so much more as well. Read More

When working in private lessons, I work with each student to set goals, both long and short term. I then assume the role of a guide whenever possible, rather than an authoritarian figure, so that sudents can discover concepts for themselves vs. having the information given to them. When students discover the concepts for themselves, they tend to understand them much better because they have learned them through practical use. Read More
