I have been teaching since 1980. I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Colorado in the 80s. I am a member of National Music Teachers Association, Colorado State Music Teachers Association and Foothills Music Teachers Association. I have taught both at the private and public school levels and teach students beginning at age 5 through adult level. I began my music teaching journey back in 2012 after attending the University of Colorado Denver. I was pursuing a music degree and at the time I believed touring would be my main source of income. After I had my first guitar student my life path suddenly changed and I realized my passion for teaching. I have studied at Berklee, New England Conservatory, and UT Austin, and performed at the highest levels of the industry, including making Hip Hop tracks for Warner Brothers in my 20s, touring with funk/rock, latin, and jazz acts around the world, playing in top wedding bands and directing music at churches. I have taught piano for nearly a decade. As I was growing up, my mother taught piano in our house and I started learning at five years old. When I was twelve, I took on my first student, who was about four years old at the time. Since then, I have taught in a variety of settings, from double teaming pairs of students with my mother to teaching cello, piano, drums, and basic music skills online to students living in Haiti, France, and across the United States! The Rubank Method offers some solos, but in addition, for the High School student I teach them the Weber Concertino, Mozart Concerto- first movement, Brahms Second Sonata for the advanced High School and College student.
