I can teach beginners out of any books they might already own, but if starting lessons with me, the books I have available to send to my beginners are Essential Elements and Standard of Excellence. I have additional materials, like the LaFosse, for beginners who have a higher starting range than the majority. I write out personalized daily routines for all my beginners. For high school students, I help the student develop a daily routine which incorporates exercises from the Schlossberg warmups, Colin's Advanced Lip Flexibilities, Vernon's The Singing Approach, the Arban method, and sometimes others. I love seeing a students eyes light up when they get excited about music or figure our that they can now do something they were not able to do before. For beginning students who are picking up their instrument for the first time, I like to start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. These introductory books are the ones I first learned from, and feature a wide variety of musical styles to give students an idea of the breadth of possibilities on their instrument. It tends to aid in the discipline required for music. Read More

I have been a musician forever and I just love making music with others and inspiring everyone to raise their voice through music. It is my favorite thing to get lost in a song or dig deep into the musical process. I travel the world making music with others and mostly enjoy playing clarinet, singing and conducting, but I have a special love for percussion and learning new instruments as well. Read More
