The first lesson is both an assessment and an opportunity for my student and I to get to know each other. My philosophy is to teach the student, not JUST the music. Also, I believe in "comprehensive" musicians-ones that can perform, understand, write, and create. Read More

As an educator, I strive for patience with students making a good effort. I recognize that certain skill sets will take time to develop, and I make sure that all students are doing the right things as they practice. Between lessons, I set a small list of achievable skills and practices for students to do. These lists are tailored for each individual to grow every week. With each lesson, it is my hope that the students find the joy of music making, and develop a love of music in general that will last them their entire lives. Read More

I strongly focus on fundamentals especially when teaching younger players. My style of teaching is to prepare students for auditions and solo and ensemble festival. Read More

During my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Louisville, I have led sectionals for honor choir and all-state workshops, and prepared the University Chorus and Collegiate Chorale for my recital which have given me some hands-on experience in rehearsing various choirs.
