My teaching experience dates back to college where I tutored other university students in Ear Training/Sight Singing and Music Theory. I began teaching private lessons about 7 years ago in Florida while I was pursuing my degree in Music Education. I have maintained a voice and piano student consisting of 50 students. From a young age I have always had an interest in teaching and have developed and nurtured the skills necessary to be a successful teacher for close to 15 years. I love seeing my students overcome difficulties in their learning and enjoy watching them grow as musicians and people. Read More

I've been teaching and leading sectionals for four years now, and have taught lessons on both fiddle and voice! It's an honor to be able to spread the love of music to students, as music has changed my life. Consistent practice is important, but so is finding what the student loves to practice. Music should be fun, even as it's hard work! Students are encouraged to write, explore their own creativity, and explore other avenues of music beyond performance, like learning music theory and notation, as well as the basics of music software, if they're interested. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice. During that time I was given the opportunities to sing with some wonderful groups including Kentucky Opera Chorus, Cardinal Singers, Early Music Ensemble, and Choral Arts Society. Since moving to Colorado in 2016, I have sang with multiple quartets and ensembles, including St Martin's Chamber Choir, Gaudium Verum, Anima Chamber Ensemble as well as continuing to teach music in an individual and/or choral setting. Using a tried-and-true approach, I like to teach each student the basics of musicianship in a step-by-step method. Each new concept builds on the previous one. Each student learns a bit differently, that is the wonderful thing about being an individual! I fell that I am able to tap into a student's learning stlye from the first lesson, and find areas that need to be strengthened. This carries over into all areas of learning. Read More

My approach to teaching is personal, flexible, and student-centered. I will start by finding out what the student knows already, and what the student wants to know. What kinds of music do they want to play, and why? (For instance: for fun; accompanying themselves singing; performing in front of people; becoming professional.) If the student can play some samples of songs they would like to learn, all the better. Along the way, some basics will surely be covered (chords, scales, basic music theory, various instrumental techniques). Read More
