Overview:
Greetings!   My name is Ryan and I have been involved in music for over 13 years now. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2010, I moved to Seattle to pursue my career in music. Since I've moved I have been teaching lessons, performing in musicals, performing at weddings/events, and playing with my rock band all over the country.    I love and respect every type of music there is but I have always excelled and found myself happiest in Rock. Some of the bands that have influenced me in music and that I still listen to to this day are: Blink 182, Yellowcard, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, No Doubt, Metallica, and such hard rock acts as Periphery, A Day To Remember, and many others.    It is hard to get a good gauge on who I am as a person through a website so please feel free to call or message me for more information or, of course, book a lesson!   Best,     -Ryan M.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching private lessons for the better part of a decade now and it has brought me to the far ends of our country. I've taught many different instruments which include, bass, guitar, piano, drums, production and even more! I've taught many different age ranges as well from 5 to 95 although I happily can meet you somewhere in the middle. I enjoy teaching in the styles that I grew up on which include rock, funk, soul, and other really fun types of live music. I hope we get to chat further about potentially working together!
METHODS USED
You are here on this website, which means you or someone you know wants to learn music and I am here to make that happen!    Our first lesson will be me figuring out what you want out of lessons. Some questions and us talking for a bit will lead to the necessary information I need to develop a personal lesson curriculum for you.    My goal is to seamlessly intertwine all the fun and beautiful aspects of music with the theory and knowledge that has been around for hundreds of years. I believe in having fun at lessons because music is supposed to be fun!    I also like looking at music as a whole. It may just be a guitar or bass lesson on the outside, but it is really a MUSIC lesson as a whole. Music has always been more than one instrument and our lessons will reflect that. It is not uncommon for us to be learning a song or an idea and take a minute to reflect on another aspect of what's going on if it is of musical importance/relevance. This will help you become not just an excellent instrumentalist, but an amazing musician.    In the end, I can guarantee the lessons to be fun, informative, and unique to you!
LESSON STYLE
I'm a big believer in muscle memory. I've had a lot of students(mainly guitar) who have hard time getting off the ground when it comes to play their instrument. They're not sure where to begin and how to start when they can barley play a note! That first D chord is always the toughest so I like to find a song that they like and also easy to play and jam out. This way they're building the fundamental playing ability while having a blast. Once they have that down, then there is a whole world of music open which we can then explore.
