I began singing when I was seven in a school choir. After that, I joined a boy choir in Florida that allowed me to travel all over the United States and Europe, exposing me to many different genres of music. When I entered college, I decided to start training as an opera singer. Since then, I have gained a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Theater Arts from the University of Miami (FL) and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. I have been fortunate to perform extensively and have become passionate about performing.
I have been teaching ever since the second year of my graduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music 3 years ago and have continued teaching privately since that time. I do encourage my students to practice every day, suiting their needs and schedule. Whether I am teaching piano or voice, I like to teach the technical aspects of the respective instrument and apply these techniques to the repertoire that I have assigned.
For students of voice, my curriculum will adjust depending on the needs of the student, be it pitch, rhythm, breath, etc. I use many different vocal exercises and songs to help with whatever the student needs to work on. For piano, I like to use the Faber books. I believe these have a good balance of technique and repertoire so the student does not get bored just playing scales, and hopefully maintains or strenghtens their interest in the instrument.
I try to set achieveable goals for the student each week, so they have something to work towads before the next time we meet. I like to have a fun and relaxed atmospher in the studio and encourage my students to their fullest potential and beyond. I want to see them succeed and it gives me great pleasure to see them tackle their musical obstacles.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
