Hello! My name is Rubina and I have been teaching Violin/Viola (beginning to advanced) and piano (beginning and intermediate) for over 10 years. I have experience teaching private/group lessons to teaching at a school music class. It is really important for me that my lessons are not only educational but fun for the student as well. I like to combine classical standard techniques and allow the students to pick a music of their own choice so that it is guaranteed to be not just educational but fun as well. If you are interested in learning violin/viola and piano, you can split your lesson times so that you can learn both. Age is not an important factor in learning an instrument! It is never too early or late to learn! Learning to play an instrument is very beneficial for brain activity and body coordination. Discipline, focus, procrastination, presentation are skills that can benefit you in your everyday life. With learning music, it is not really possible to procrastinate. During my lessons you will learn to spread apart your work/hw in a timely manner because there is no way you can learn a piece well in a matter of hours, this will help build strong discipline and focus. You will also be learning to perform in front of an audience can prepare you for any type of presentation such as school project presentation, speeches, etc. For in home lessons, for violin/viola lessons we will be at least 6 feet apart and wearing masks. For piano lessons we both be wearing masks, I will also wear gloves (not required for the student) we will be 6 feet apart unless I need to explain/show something to the student. If you are ready to start the journey or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me! I look forward to hearing from you. Whether it is a hobby, goal to learn a specific piece, goal to audition for orchestra/school I am here for you!
I have been teaching violin, viola, and piano since I was in high school. My mother was a piano teacher and from a young age I have been exposed to her teaching experiences that have benefited me as a teacher. In high school, my orchestra teacher being a wind (flute, oboe, trumpet) player, my teacher actually had me teach the beginner, intermediate, advanced string classes. Once I entered college and graduate school I have also worked with elementary, middle/junior, and high schools music programs. I am flexible in teaching any type of music settings.
My favorite book for beginner/intermediate student is the 'A Tune a Day' book series. I love that it works on basic technique and also has fun tunes that even beginners can start to play. Once the student is more experienced, I like to also use the Suzuki books to start learning standard classical repertoire. Lastly, once the student has learn first position, I allow them to bring a piece of choice (any genre) to also learn as well. There is so much room for flexibility. Not all lessons are the same. Every student has different goals and I customize each lesson to suit the student's needs.
My main goal as a teacher, no matter whether it is a hobby or for auditions, I want my students to have fun. Because if it is not enjoyable for the student, they will not look forward to lessons, practicing, or performing and it will show in their music. There is no standard approach to teaching. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses and all of my lessons are customized so that each student can improve both ends. In addition, as a music teacher not only am I teaching my students to have a strong basic foundation and be a great solo performer, I want them to learn how to collaborate with other musicians so that in the future they will also perform well with others.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
