I graduated in 2009 from the University of Texas-Brownsville with a degree in Music Education. My major instrument was the French Horn, and I also began stuyding piano and organ while I was there. I consider myself to be a well-rounded musician; I performed in brass and wind ensembles throughout middle school, high school, and college. I also joined choir in college and had the opportunity to sing in concerts throughout Italy. I have also been studying organ for 7 years. Currently, I am organist at First Presbyterian Church in Galveston, TX.
I have taught elementary music, middle school choir, and high school piano and choir. I love teaching music to students, especially beginning students who have never had music before. It is a joy to see new students begin to understand what a special thing it is to be called a musician.
My varied experiences in music, from band to choir and keyboard instruments, have given me a unique perspective on teaching. I draw from all these experiences when I am teaching lessons. I understand that students are unique individuals, therefore I do not use the same method for every student. I create a tailor-made curriculum for each student based on their individual strenghts and weaknesses.
I am a very patient teacher, but I also push my students to go beyond what they believe they are capable of. I am organized and keep records of what was accomplished in each lesson. I also believe in setting realistic goals, both long- and short-term. Together, my students and I will develop a plan to reach those goals.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
