2012-Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity
I am a passionate and motivated instructor that loves engaging with students to help them grow their music skills. In 2014, I graduated from Winston Salem State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and minor in Piano. While in undergrad I've played all across the states in the university marching band. After graduation I've sung background for big names like Chrissy Collins, Cassi Davis, and even underground artists all across Los Angeles California and Atlanta Georgia. Coming from a family of musicians, being in ensembles since middle school and studying music at a collegiate level has not only grown my appreciation for music, but also my appreciation for individuals who want to grow theirs as well.
My teaching experience starts back in 2011 while in college. In addition to being a section leader in the marching band and teaching percussionists, I would also assist at a local YMCA. There I focused my energy on teaching snare drum techniques to young teens for the community drum line. In my down time I would often find myself giving vocal lessons to voice majors in undergrad. I like to make my sessions as fun as possible so my students will know that working hard can be both fun and beneficial!
For beginning piano students, I like to start with Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory and Alfred's Basic Piano Library. This allows me to not only teach my students performing techniques, but also educate them on fundamentals that will grow them into a better overall musician. This will create longevity in their music journey. For adults, I find it best to see what sparks them and tailor my approach to that. No matter what the skill level is, it is my ultimate goal to make the sessions beneficial and enjoyable for the student.
The best feeling to me is watching someone unlock potential they didn't even realize they had! That being said, I encourage students to go at their own pace, and educate them on how to set realistic goals for themselves and execute that. I don't want to just teach music, but also introduce the benefits of diving deep inside oneself and pulling out emotion and feeling. I'm very big on praising the small wins and optimism. By getting an idea of a students dream I can create lesson plans based on what the student wants for themselves.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
