Overview:
I’m a guitarist, bassist and music educator born in Brazil, Florianopolis, and I’ve resided in the NJ area since 2019 where I work with students of all ages and teach courses focused on Harmony, Improvisation, Composition, Guitar/Bass Proficiency, and Musical Beginning to kids and adults. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a major in Performance, with guitar as my principal instrument. Throughout my many years as a performer, I studied with the finest music educators from Boston/MA, NYC, and Sao Paulo, such as: Mick Goodrick, Garry Dial, Richie Hart, Ed. Tomassi, Bruce Bartlet, Nando Michelin, Lupa Santiago, Michel Leme, Daniel Maudonnet, among others. I absolutely love teaching and I have a lot of experience with students of all levels and ages. I’m very proud of all the long-lasting friendships I’ve developed with my students throughout the past decades and always teach my lessons with good humor and patience! EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching music since high school, believe it or not! I started giving private lessons at a cool place called Clube da Música in my hometown when I was just 16. Fast forward, and I've now got 16 years of experience under my belt, teaching everything from guitar and bass to music theory, harmony, and ear training. I've worked with students of all ages, either at their homes or in my home studio. One thing I always stress, especially to younger students, is the importance of sticking to a regular practice schedule. It's like the secret sauce to help them get better and fall in love with their instrument.
METHODS USED
I tailor my approach based on the student's prior experiences. For beginners, I employ effective and renowned methods used at Berklee College of Music, such as the "Berklee Guitar Theory", "A Modern Method for Guitar", "Fundamentals of Guitar", among others. Once the student has established a strong foundation and technique on their instrument, we dive right into Berklee's proficiency exams. This phase includes mastering concepts like triads and their inversions, four-part chords and their inversions, various arpeggios, and scales spanning one to three octaves. The primary emphasis throughout my lessons is to inspire constant creativity. Students will find themselves creating their own solos, songs, and honing their ear training skills.
LESSON STYLE
There's nothing more awesome than watching one of my students fall in love with music! That's why it's important to let each student go at their own speed. I keep things real by setting doable goals for my students in every lesson. When they achieve those goals, it fires up their desire to learn even more. I like to find out what gets them excited because that way, I can make my teaching fit what they're into. Plus, I'm always asking them to show me something they created with what we learned that week. Even if they don't want to be a pro musician, I think it's crucial to inspire their creativity. It makes us all better people!

I took lessons with Rodrigo while he was still studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and he was amazing! He is very patient, which was especially helpful to me considering I have never played guitar before. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm.
