"Charismatic performer and passionate teacher". I have been teaching for several years in a wide range of ages. I am originally from México, where I started my musical studies, my passion for music has taken me to explore new cities and countries. I came back to the US to pursue my Masters Degree in SUNY College at Purchase where I study with Julia Lichten. I value the colaboration with composers and development of new works, as well as exploring music through free improvisation. That has led me to perform in Opera, orchestra, chamber music in several cities along North America,
I started teaching part time 5 years ago, and I have been consistently teaching in a wide range of ages after that. My students has the option of having lessons in Spanish and English, aiming to help them to facilitate them the learning experience. I encourage the creation of constant habits, which helps the students to continue motivated while they are building life long skills that can help them to complete their goals in many aspects in life. The participation of my students in recitals is something that I strongly encourage, because it helps them to complete the cycle of learning and performing music which creates motivation to learn the instrument.
I am careful to listen and motive the unique motivations of each student and help them to achieve their musical goals. As a teacher I understand the importance of having a positive and respectful relationship with my students, because is an important element to achieve a valuable and effective learning. If necessary I include singing and piano playing as important tools to learn pitch and rhythmic values. My students learn the fundamental bases from the instrument, as well I like to include familiar melodies and songs that I can arrange for them to play.
Creating a motivational relationship between the students and practicing the instrument, is one of the most effective teaching techniques that I found in my trajectory. I adapt to the necessities of my students guiding them in their musical formation, developing habits that will help them to accomplish their goals and creates an enjoyment for learning and making progress in the instrument. Creativity, persistence and a constant habits are key for learning a new instrument. In class I promote my students to look for creative solutions for any challenge that they can have, looking the music from different angles and analyzing its structure.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
