ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

Certificate, Atlanta Institute of Music, Guitar Performance

Overview:

I have been in music all my life, I always try to take some kind lessons constantly because there is always room to improve my skill. I have played in many bands that have performed live. In my current bands I play as lead guitar and lead vocals. I play many types of music in my bands from Rock, Blues, R&B, Country, Reggae, Classical, and Jazz. I have played for churches, bars, and community neighborhoods in the Atlanta area.

EXPERIENCE

I have been playing music my whole life, I played violin up until middle school. I then played saxophone in High school and participated in Marching band, Jazz band, and Honor Band. I then went to Atlanta Institute of Music, and got a degree in guitar performance. I have also been casually playing piano since high school and I am currently taking vocal lessons.

METHODS USED

I make lesson plans based on the needs of what the student likes stylistically and where their week points are. I teach Chord shapes and try to get in ear training and music theory as much as possible.     The books I use for teaching are; The Christopher Parkening guitar method, Vol 1 and 2 The real book Solo jazz guitar Foundations of Rock: Evolution of Rock Guitar Terrifying Technique for Guitar Melodic Rythms for Guitar and A Modern Method for Guitar Volume 1

LESSON STYLE

I have always loved teaching those around me how to improve in music.  I believes that even though there are times to be strict with learning and practicing, that music should always be fun and engaging. I help my students learn by picking material that they enjoy playing but at the same time have techniques that they need to know.
