Master Degree: Rice University, Bachelor Degree: University of Maryland
Hi there, Thank you for visiting my page! :) I would be thrilled to be a part of you or your child’s musical journey. Here’s a little more about me: I am a professional violist and private violin& viola teacher. I received my Masters Degree in Music from Rice University, and hold a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Maryland. I am an experienced solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. I was a prize winner of the Enkor International Music Competition for Strings, and have traveled over the US and internationally to participate in chamber music, orchestra, and solo performances. I have participated in the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Mendocino Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Innsbrook Summer Music Academy, the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival, and the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute at the Kennedy Center.
I am an enthusiastic and experienced teacher, having taught over 50+ students of all ages and backgrounds. I have taught at institutions such as: Rice University, Music&Arts, Clear Creek High School, and the Vivo Professional School of Music. I am currently growing my own private studio. When Covid conditions improve, I invite my students for in-person lessons at my home studio in Germantown, MD. I also will consider driving to a students home to teach if it is within reasonable distance. I’m always looking to bring on new students!
There are many aspects of being a great teacher that I aim to put forward each and every day for my students. I value trust as the most important element of a healthy student teacher relationship. It is my greatest hope that students will trust me to give them the best possible musical education. With every student I teach, my goal for them is that they become the best musician they can be. I will encourage them, and count on the fact that they have both faith in me and themselves to develop as artists. Furthermore, I want to be a source of support for my students. Learning music is rewarding in many ways, but it will come with challenges and frustration along the way. It is my job to help a student realize their talent, and to teach them how to approach learning music in a positive light, always. Each player will have many special and individual strengths to their playing, and it is imperative that they know what they are, and how to shine. Therefore, I adjust my teaching to fit the needs and goals of different students. In any case, the environment will always be supportive, encouraging, and positive. I promise to take on the challenge of being a constant source of inspiration for students. I will continue to perform, and practice, because I too am improving each day, and still desire to become the best musician I can be.
I aim to set a positive and encouraging environment for every lesson. This being said, I try to inspire my students to do their best and to work hard to achieve their goals. I supply the student with notes from every lesson so they know exactly what to practice, and what my expectations for the next lesson will be. It is important to me to praise my students for their good work, and build their confidence. This being said, my current students will tell you that I have high expectations I do not settle for less than our goals. It is very rewarding to see a student enjoy the sound they make, and I love the process of getting them to that point.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
