Bachelors Degree, DePaul University
I have taken lessons on piano first, then drums through grammar school, High School, and College. I majored in Music at Lane Tech High School in Chicago and have a Bachelors Degree in Applied Music from De Paul University. I studied with Al Payson who is a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 4 years. I am familiar with all types of percussion including marimba, vibes, tympani, snare drum, etc. I have been playing drums my whole life in all styles including classical, jazz, rock, soul, latin, and country. I have also taught piano and drums for a number of years. I can teach any style at any level from beginners to advanced on snare drum or the entire drum set.
I have a wealth of knowledge in performance and teaching. To perform on stage you have to be sure of yourself and confident in your playing.
The main funtion of the drummer is to keep time and keep the band together. Time cannot be taught but can be practiced. I often use a metronome in teaching. Proper technique is required and can be learned. Reading music is a must and will be taught.
My favorite students are the ones that practice and learn the lessons assigned. Practice times vary with age, but a minimum of 30 to 60 minutes a day would be required.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
