Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. I graduated from Rider University with Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Piano Performance, with Bachelor of Music (BM) in Music Theory & Composition, and with Master of Music (MM) in Piano Performance & Pedagogy. I have performed at Carnegie Hall in 2009 and in 2012, as well as given concerts throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maine. In April of 2014, I have performed Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with Princeton Community Orchestra.
I have been teaching piano and music theory for the pat 8 years. I specialize in teaching students of all ages and levels. My students constantly perform in piano recitals, school-based musical events, competitions, contests, and more. I teach both private lessons as well as group lessons.
Each student is unique, and each student requires own set of pedagogical material. There are many piano method books, exercises, and separate music pieces that I implement during piano lessons.
For beginner students: I try to make lessons fun and interesting, and at the same time - educative and informative. I think it is important to create a connection between the student and the music which they are playing. It is significant that the student enjoys music and plays for own pleasure. The amount of progress during lessons depends on the will of students to learn. It is important to balance out enjoyment and at the same time, make sure that students improve in their pianistic abilities. For intermediate students: Just like with beginner students, the interest in music must be present. At the same time, new techniques and new pieces must be learned in order to see significant improvement. I try to push my intermediate students and at the same time, I try to make sure that they go to piano lessons for own entertainment. In general, intermediate students should spend more time practicing their pieces. Especially for students, who wish to reach advanced level, it is important to commit a certain amount of time towards piano studies. With that being said, I make sure that students enjoy learning their assigned pieces. For advanced students: At this level, students know what is expected of them. They know the level on which they play, and they know what they want to achieve. Students who got that far in their piano studies understand that improvement in piano comes from hard work. I assign pieces of various styles to advanced students (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Modern, etc). Additionally, I provide students with advanced exercises and theoretical concepts that are necessary for further improvement. For adult students: The learning curriculum with adult student varies since it generally depends on the musical tastes and musical goals of each specific students. I take in consideration that adult students have families to support, jobs to work, and bills to pay. I understand that for adult students, practicing comes second to everyday life. That is why all work assigned to adult students typically depends on how much free time they have in their schedule.
