I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students of varying ages and skill levels. Sharing my passion and love of music is at the heart of my educational philosophy. With collegiate studies in Vocal Performance and Choral Education at the Capital University Conservatory of Music and The Ohio State University, I can apply sound pedagogy and technique to your lessons. I continue to work as a professional choral and solo musician in a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, church worship, and contemporary a cappella.
I have been teaching private and group lessons on voice and guitar for the past 10 years. I conduct several ensembles currently including two church choirs, a contemporary worship group, a handbell choir, and a competition men's a cappella (barbershop) chorus. I actively perform with several groups ranging from an internationally ranked barbershop quartet to Ohio's only professional choir. I apply my experiences with these groups to find the ideal lesson plan for each student. I encourage regular practice, a consistent lesson schedule, and performance opportunities. Much like my performance experience, I believe that a combination of classical, contemporary and jazz selections make for an effective learning experience for the student.
Lesson plans differ based on student skill level, but are also custom tailored to the music interests and goals of the student. Hal Leaonard and Schirmer have great resources for learning the fundamentals of music and a resource will be recommended after the student has been formally assesssed. The goal of my lessons is to keep our sessions fun but informative while stretching the boundaries of ability levels.
It is tremendously rewarding to see a student not only progress in ability, but to develop a passion for music. I encourage realistic goal setting for my students at each lesson, and on a larger schedule. We celebrate our victories, obtaining performance opprotunities, and find the individual inspiration with each student so that future lessons can be custom tailored to the student's wants and needs.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
