I have always loved music and computers, and many of my past studies have worked to marry the two. I described myself as an aspiring educator, clarinetist, and composer. I have attended two excellent music programs at Allegheny College in Meadville where I earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Music and Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music where I earned a Master of Music in Digital Music Pedagogy.
I am recently graduated with my masters degree so I am quite new to one-on-one instruction. However, I love playing and teaching others about music and music technology. I look forward to meeting many new students of all ages and skill levels.
For beginning students, I would begin with the Best in Class series, before moving on to the trusty blue books of the Rubank Method. I would then take more advanced students through the Selected series: Selected Studies, Selected Duets, etc... From there, or in tandem with the above, we could explore classical repertoire according to the students needs and interests.
I have found in my own studies and from numerous other educators that there is a surprising lack of technique among students. While teaching the rudiments of performance and reading music, I try to emphasize a number of techniques which have only been shown to me quite recently, but which I lament that I did not learn earlier. While these techniques may seem advanced, forming a good habit early is better than trying to improve habits formed early in a student's career.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
