I am an enthusiastic and passionate instructor who loves sharing my knowledge and joy for music with my students. I have played piano, flute, violin, viola, and guitar for nearly 16 years. I am a creative instructor who meets each student where they are and personalizes each lesson to encourage, motivate, and meet the student's goals! In addition to private instruction, I have been a music teacher in the public schools for 2 years. I love what I do and would love to meet and teach you!
My teaching experience began in 2002 when I began my private lesson studio. Since 2002, I have obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Music and Education, where I have taught publically and privately a myriad of students ranging from 4 years old-adults. I teach a variety of music and methods, but most importantly I teach my students HOW to practice. Oftentimes, students like an instrument but become discouraged by unguided practice and end up quitting music. I teach my students a variety of methods and techniques to create a daily practice time that is encouraging, effective, and filled with progress!
Because I teach piano, flute, viola, violin, and guitar, my curriculum varies upon instrument and level. Using piano as an example, for beginning students, I typically start with Bastien's Primer series. This series teaches correct hand posture, technique, and the beginning elements of reading music. Once in the intermediate stage, I am comfortable teaching Alfred, Bastien, Faber & Faber, or Suzuki method books. The intermediate studies chosen depends on the student, student needs, goals, and musical interests. In addition to an intermiediate curriculum, I introduce solo repertoire. Following the intermediate stage, advanced players will begin prestigious soloist works such as sonatas and concertos.
My goal as a private instructor is to individualize my lessons to meet each student's needs and goals. Therefore, my students do not feel pressured to be or do anything but their best! I am patient, creative, and outgoing so our lessons are motivating and encouraging to each student! Come join my studio today and let's begin!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
