Hello! I'm a passionate and motivated vocal instructor who loves to help my students reach their potential. Since 2000, I have coached students ftom ages 10-18, plus adult students of all levels and experience. I have a Master's degree in Fine Arts in Acting from The University of Florida, and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in Musical Theater Performance from Western Michigan University. Since 1994, I have worked professionally as an actor/singer at several regional theaters, plus theaters and festivals in Monaco, Greece, and Germany. My life for the last eight years has been as a military spouse, and I've had the wonderful opportunity to teach and direct students in Germany and Guam.
I began vocal coaching while still in graduate school to undergraduates, preparing them for auditions. After working for several theaters, I returned to teaching voice when my husbsnd I moved to Germany in 2011. I thoroughly enjoy teaching the novice to the advanced student, and my goal for every student is find his or her voice and to develop it in a healthy way. I emphasize the process of developing a voice, versus an end product. I hope that a student will always have a passion for music, whether or not he or she continues to sing later in life. However, any student who is serious about pursuing a career or to major in voice/theater, I can prepare him or her for auditions or performing.
For the beginner (of any age), we work on building breath control and ear training. Every lesson, regardless of ability level, begins with breath exercises and scales to warm up the voice. We'll also work on body alignment, relaxation while singing, and broadening the vocal range. I use vocal tracks on my laptop for scales and songs, and usually will send links or make a CD for the student to practice. Songs are chosen based on the student's age, level of ability, and interests. I do not believe in assigning songs to students, since I do not want practice to be seen as a "chore," but something to look forward to doing for improvement and enjoyment.
Every student has different goals and challenges, so every lesson is specifically tailored to his or her level. It's important that every student has fun and feels empowered during lessons, so I emphasize progress in a positive way and set realistic goals for improvements. My goal for every student is to feel free of failure, celebrate achievements, and embrace opportunities for performing. I also teach how to interpret a song through vocal dynamics and express through the body in an organic way.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
