My name is Matt, I am a musician, 3d visual artist & electronic music producer from Austin, Texas. I have a masters degree in Music Production, Technology, & Innovation from Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. I have been playing piano my entire life, guitar almost as long, bass since high school, & have been producing/recording music since 2013. I release & perform music as Tetrafyre, and have played with a number of bands in the US & Europe. I thoroughly enjoy teaching & sharing means of expression with others; and am driven by the chance to collaborate with this that seek to foster community dialogue through art & music. I am inspired by the potential for art to reach deep into people and change them. I have seen first hand the power art has to bring communities together, to break down barriers, and to heal. My hope is to be among those who facilitate expression’s true potency.
I have been tutoring others since high school. In college I was an ESL teacher, as well as a tutor. In graduate school i had ample opportunities to share my knowledge with others, and since have been teaching workshops & private lessons in sound design and electronic music production. I adapt teaching styles to the student's needs and desires. I can teach you how to play the piano, guitar, bass, or cello, as well as how to record/produce music, synthesize sounds, & use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)!
I first find out what my students goals are: to join a band or orchestra? to site read music? to play for fun? to try the instrument and see if you even like it? Then from there we can make a plan together that puts them on track toward their goals. All students will begin familiarizing themselves with the instrument, the parts, how to hold it, the notes of the keys or strings etc. Then from there we will begin playing scales to build muscle memory for the basic movements of playing. As we play scales, we will start to learn the relationships between the notes and how they are laid out across the instrument. Students who wish to join a band, orchestra, or just want to read music will also begin with lessons in reading bass and treble clef. I may suggest beginner workbooks as well. I always want to keep the lessons engaging and interesting, as whats the point in learning an instrument if you don't enjoy it? I also high emphasize practice outside of lessons because that's the only way to improve! We can make a schedule together if desired.
I thoroughly enjoying sharing ways to express one's self through music and art. So my main objective is the ensure that my students have a relationship to their instrument that is fun, exciting, and a healthy outlet for them. That is why i constantly communicate and work with the students to find out what they want out of our lessons. I am passionate about music and have dedicated my life to it, so I want to share that passion with others. I am an open book, willing to share all my knowledge!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
