Hello! My name is Marcio - I am a passionate and dedicated educator and performer with many years of experience teaching students of all ages and all levels of experience. I have three Performance degrees in classical and jazz performance, and speak English and Spanish! I'm a working musician, having performed nationally and internationally in some of the most prestigious venues! Check out the rest of my profile and send me a message if you have any questions! Looking forward to hearing from you.
I've been teaching since I was 12 years old at a private music academy in the Dominican Republic. I also taught within a Norwegian program (Dissimilis) focusing on students with special needs. I currently have a growing studio of private students and would love to have you in it! I've taught non music majors at the University of Denver and SUNY Purchase Conservatory, working with students of different skill levels. I am a believer that lessons need to be fun and inspiring, and shouldn't feel like a chore!
Unless the student wants to learn from a specific method book, I have my own methods that keep lessons engaging and fun, no matter the student's skill level. Method books can be useful, but they can also put music inside of a box, as well as making it extremely academic, without regarding the use of our ears. I am an advocate for developing musicality, ear training as well as technique. I always encourage my students to make it a habit to listen to music, especially the style of music that they're interested in!
My teaching style focuses on making my students develop a passion for music. There is no need to rush things - every student has his/her own pace and my belief is that the educator has to respect this and set realistic goals for each student. I've created a method that develops a physical relationship to the instrument, and makes the learning experience about less thinking, and more listening and feeling. We have to remember that music is a language, and in the end we are trying to convey feelings and emotions!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
