other: California State University
I am currently a music student at California State University, Sacramento, majoring in music performance. I've always wanted to teach students because I love to see the improvements of other people. I take private lessons myself and love the kindness and wonderful heart of my instructor. I would like to mimic that behavior to make my students feel great about themselves and always look forward to having their lessons as I do. I strive for positivity and building great habits to succeed as a musician.
I have no teaching experience, but am looking forward to gaining some. I do believe that I am a good fit to teach because of my experience as a musician. I am a good performer who can relate to my future students because I myself am still developing as a musician. I get along well with my peers and love to meet new people who also have a passion for music. I've taken a fair amount of theory, musicianship, and large ensemble classes to improve my skills so that I am eligible and the right fit to teach the right students.
Depending on the student I may try various things. I would like all of my students to be familiar with their instruments, which I am willing to teach. I firmly believe scales are a musician's best friend, so I will have my students learn their scales. Depending on their level I will give them various worksheets to use as they warm up when practicing such as scales, arpeggios, long tones, etc. I may either assign them repertoire to practice and perform for me, or I will help them with their own repertoire. I can teach my students things that they may not have known about their instrument as well as other things including alternative fingerings and other techniques to improve their skills and make playing their instrument easier. Overall there is a large variety of material and techniques that I can teach my students for various levels, and I am prepared to teach anything that is necessary.
I love to spread kindness to my others and plan to do that with my students. I will have a lot of patience with my students as I realize that everyone is at different levels and learns in different ways. I am prepared to recognize that one way that works for a student may not work for another student and am prepared to have backup alternatives. I will work outside of lesson times to make sure I am successful during the next lesson with my students. I love to be organized and well prepared so I know what I've worked on with each student, and what I plan to work on next. If my student appears to be having a bad day I will come up with ways to make them feel at ease possibly by adding less weight to the workload or the lesson plan during the lesson so they don't feel overwhelmed or stressed.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
