Overview:
Over 15+ years of violin performance experience, I started playing violin at the age of 9 while studying in music conservatory from middle school to high school at Wyoming Seminary preparatory School in Wilkes-Barrier Pennsylvania with music scholarship where studied under musician in resident, Sophie Till . I continued to receive my music education while studying at Johns Hopkins University where I received violin lessons from Peabody music conservatory. After graduation, I was also selected into Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, a prestige organization for young talented musicians, as a violinist and also learned baritone as my second instrument to serve the compulsory military service in Taiwan.
EXPERIENCE
Teaching Experience 1. I have taught violin sections and ensemble at local Taiwanese middle school music conservatory. 2. I have given private lessons to kids who are interested in applying music conservatory and prepared them to get accepted 3. I was invited to give classes to a group of young kids and arrange a string ensemble for their annual district music festival 4. I have been a teacher assistant in summer music camp in Taiwan, help organize practice session and arrange masterclass. 5. have fun and enjoy!
METHODS USED
Teaching Specialties 1. I am bilingual, fluent in both mandarin Chinese and English. 2. Strong fundamental music theory background. 3. Taubman Approach in Violin. Experience working with Edna Golandsky and Sophie Till for solving technical problem in playing violin. 4. Suzuki Method For beginning students, I would start by understanding the violin and its relationship with our body for both children and adults, because everyone is different. By getting the right fundamental and posture will not only prevent injuries, but also increase the interest in playing the violin with minimum effort.
LESSON STYLE
I break down my teaching style into three sections. 1. warm up 2. technical fundamental 3. melody rhythm singing. I also like to know what student want to achieve their goals. I would set up short term goal (3 month) to a 12 month long term goals. We all know practicing is the key. I think the best way is to lay out a plan for practice routine and exercise to accomplish mini-goals and ultimately the goals the students want to achieve. I am also open to what students' opinions and feedback and I will adjust it to fit students' needs.
