BM, Loyola University New Orleans, Violin Performance
I have been playing violin for over 15 years. I recently graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance. I enjoy performing all over the Greater New Orleans area, whether it is playing for weddings, in an orchestra, or in chamber ensembles. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of teachers and perform in several areas of the country, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. I absolutely love playing violin and sharing this love of music with my students. I am inspired by violinists Hilary Hahn and Stefan Jackiw.
I've been teaching since 2005, starting at a little music shop in my hometown. I later started my own home studio with my mother, who is a piano teacher. I've taught students of all ages, and I love watching them progress! Several of my students have been members of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra, and two of them were finalists in the annual Concerto Competition. I love helping my students accomplish their goals, whether it is to play with an orchestra or learning how to play a favorite piece of theirs.
I primarily use the Suzuki Method for my beginning students, especially the younger ones. As they progress, I incorporate etudes and technical studies to support what they are learning in their solo repertoire. As the student advances to more challenging repertoire, I gradually transition them from the Suzuki books to individual pieces that I help them select based on their level of playing. With my adult students, I usually begin the transition to a variety of repertoire earlier, based on their musical interests and goals. I also incorporate fundamentals of music theory with all of my students in their lessons, because I believe that it is important and helpful for them to understand all of the elements of which the music consists.
I customize my lessons to each students' unique goals and abilities. I believe that it is important for the student to enjoy learning and practicing so that they develop their own passion for music and the violin. I help my students set their weekly practice goals as well as helping them determine what they want to accomplish during the year. I also believe that positive encouragement is an important aspect of teaching, so that the student is rewarded for their hard work and is inspired to continue accomplishing their goals.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
