I have two Grammy Awards with the Phoenix Chorale. 2008 & 2016
I am a quarter-finalist for the 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award.
I have been singing and playing the piano since the age of five. I have been directing choirs and teaching voice lessons since 1993. I have degrees in choral conducting and vocal music education, and have recently moved to Madison from Phoenix. I have been singing professional with and assistant conducting for the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale since 2007. I have performed professional both nationally and internationally, and I absolutely love sharing my love of music with as many students as I can.
I have been teaching since 1993. I taught Jr. and Sr. High School vocal music education for four years before obtaining my Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Choral Conducting. I have been teaching collegiate choirs, vocal and piano students since 2001. I like teaching beginning, as well as advanced students. I strive to help each student find their musical strengths and foster them to see their true potential. I help students with auditions, competitions, and recitals. I love to nurture my students to build confidential and I like to challenge them so that they can reach their full potential.
For piano students, I will start them with the Alfred piano book series. Once the students grasp the concepts in this series, I will have them start selecting literature for which they would like to study. For classical vocal students, I will start them with several different book series such as The First Book of "their own voice part" Solos and the 24 Italian Art Song Series. Once they have grasped the classical concepts of their voice, I will ask them to bring in some art songs and arias that they would like to study and learn. For musical theater or pop vocal students, I will ask them to bring in the pieces they wish to study and learn.
I have experienced the power and therapeutic nature of music and what it can do for human beings. I strive to help all students see the connection and the emotion that music can bring to our lives. I strive to help the students see and understand their talent, help build their confidence level, and then challenge them to keep practicing and excelling in order for them to see their full potential. While each of us has our own unique level of talent, I strive to teach the all students the importance of practice. Practice makes us better!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
